Holly Bakke Current Employer-Title: Holly Bakke currently serves as Director of the New Jersey Property-Liability Insurance Guaranty Association, the New Jersey Surplus Lines Insurance Guaranty Fund, the New Jersey Medical Malpractice Reinsurance Association and the Unsatisfied Claim and Judgment Fund. Profession: Attorney Work History: Previously she served as New Jersey’s Banking and Insurance Commissioner for Governor James McGreevey and Acting Governor Richard Codey; as Chair of the Insolvency Task Force of the National Association of the Insurance Commissioners and as Deputy Commissioner of Insurance Litigation Practices for the New Jersey Department of Insurance. As Commissioner, Ms. Bakke promoted auto, health and banking reforms. New auto insurance reform legislation made coverage more accessible and affordable for safe drivers, including the nation’s toughest penalties for auto insurance fraud, expanded consumer protections, and included measures to reduce the number of uninsured drivers. The New Jersey Home Ownership Security Act, known as the Anti-Predatory Lending Law, provides some of the strongest safeguards in the country to prevent homeowners from losing their homes and assets as a result of unfair mortgage lending practices. Education: Holly received her Juris Doctor degree cum laude from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1982, was a Graduate Fellow at the Institute for Court Management of the National Center for State Courts in 1978, and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Drew University in 1973.
